Melissa Etheridge & Rob Thomas To Rock "Run For Water" This Weekend
Rob Thomas and Melissa Etheridge are among the artists who'll perform this Sunday, April 18th at the Dow Live Earth Run For Water, a worldwide series of charity 6k runs that will take place in 100 cities across 50 countries on April 18th. The event will raise awareness of, and money to help solve, the global water crisis. The runs are six kilometers -- just over three-and-a-half miles -- because that's the average distance many women and children walk every day to get clean water. The money raised will go to Global Water Challenge, which works to bring clean, safe drinking water to people around the globe.
Rob will perform at the Atlanta site of the event, entertaining the participants after they've completed the course. Melissa will do the honors in Los Angeles. She says she's excited to play outdoors at the event, saying, "It should be really cool and fun, I like doing these sort of street-type things." As for what she'll perform, Melissa says she'll stick to the hits, explaining, "One-off things like this, where maybe someone will be coming to hear me that just kinda has maybe heard me on the radio, I always try to do just what I think they've heard."
Other walks will take place in Chicago, Minneapolis and New York City, with different artists performing in each city.
